About the Program

If you need help securing safe and affordable housing, we have programs that can help!

Finding affordable, healthy, and safe housing can be difficult on a limited income. We understand. Brightpoint may be able to help through one of our many housing assistance programs.

Brightpoint is the lead agency for our region’s Coordinated Entry (CE) housing assistance for individuals experiencing homelessness. Coordinated Entry helps to connect people in crisis to relevant programs and interventions that will rapidly end their homelessness. The assessment process used by the program is designed to help the most vulnerable in our community access scarce housing resources whether provided by Brightpoint or by our partner agencies.

Waiting List for Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCVP – formerly known as Section 8) Now Open

Brightpoint is now accepting applications for the HCVP waitlist. Applications are available online only and are county specific.

Eligibility

Counties Served

Coordinated Entry / Housing Solutions / Permanent Supportive Housing: Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, LaGrange, Noble, Steuben, Wells, Whitley.

Housing Choice Voucher Program: Allen (outside city limits of Fort Wayne), DeKalb, Elkhart (outside city limits of Elkhart and Goshen), Fulton, Kosciusko (outside the city limits of Warsaw), LaGrange, Marshall, Noble, Steuben and Whitley.

Eligibility

  • Anyone experiencing a housing crisis should call to see if there is a program available to meet their needs.
  • Housing Solutions: Must be homeless or about to become homeless and be income eligible. If homeless, must be referred through Coordinated Entry.
  • Permanent Supportive Housing: Must be HUD-defined homeless and have a disability of either severe mental illness, chronic substance abuse, and/or living with HIV/AIDS. Must be referred through Coordinated Entry.
  • Housing Choice Voucher Program: Eligibility is based on income. Most families who are eligible fall under 30% of the Area Median Income (AMI.) Some families with incomes up to 50% AMI may qualify.
