Our History

1965

Allen County Economic Opportunity Council (ACEOC) was formed. Initial programs included: Head Start, Legal Services, Neighborhood Youth Corps, Economic Development, Emergency Food and Medical Services, Youth Development, Neighborhood Services System, Foster Grandparents, and Planning and Research.

1983

The ACEOC became the Community Action of Northeast Indiana Inc. (CANI) and expanded its service footprint to include additional communities outside of Allen County.

2015

CANI approached 50 years of helping people in the communities we serve and once again the name was changed to its current name — Brightpoint.

A Brighter Future

Now in our 60th year of serving Northeast Indiana, Brightpoint is creating brighter futures for nearly 55,000 individuals and 19,000 families annually. Our Strategic Plan details how we will continue our mission to eliminate the causes and conditions of poverty and our vision to create a world in which all people have access to opportunities and are treated with dignity.
