Our investment in human services means when help is needed, we get involved. By continuing to tell our story and share our clients’ success, we will further our mission to help generations to come.
During each Indiana legislative session, Brightpoint advocates for policies that support our mission to help communities, families, and individuals remove the causes and conditions of poverty. We align with the policy agendas of our agency partners, the Indiana Community Action Poverty Institute, Prosperity Indiana, and United Way of Allen County.
We believe that collective advocacy affects change, and that public policies play an important role in our mission to fight poverty. Join us in creating a brighter northeast Indiana by advocating for policies that support economic stability and well-being for all Hoosiers. Along with our agency partners like the Indiana Community Action Poverty Institute (INCAP), we advocate for policies that establish strong foundations like safe, stable housing and child care; good jobs; support programs to catch those who are struggling to make ends meet; an end to financial drains like medical debt and predatory loans; and a fair tax code to promote equity and uplift Hoosier households.
Millions of Americans live in poverty every day. Many more have incomes above the poverty line, but their incomes are still low enough that they can’t afford basic needs like food, decent housing, or quality child care.
It is difficult for those of us who have enough to truly understand the situations that families living in poverty experience every day – the decisions they have to make, and the fears and frustrations they feel. We invite you to experience the realities of those facing poverty by participating in a Poverty Simulation.
As a Community Action Agency, Brightpoint conducts regular community needs assessments to maintain a comprehensive understanding of poverty and the issues families in our service area face. This report is significant because it helps determine the future direction of the organization and becomes the foundation of our strategic planning. We also hope that it is useful to other organizations in our community.
