Brightpoint to Host Regional CDC for JAG Students

Marion, IN – On January 24th, students with Brightpoint’s Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) program will participate in a Career Development Competition at Ivy Tech Community College in Marion. Students from across northeast Indiana will compete in various categories including business plan, creative decision making, project-based learning, career preparation, employability skills, financial literacy, prepared speaking as well as digital invitation/cover design and outstanding senior, both of which are pre-judged events. First place winners from the regional competition will advance to the state competition held later this year.

Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) is a resiliency-building workforce program that helps students in grades 9 through 12 learn in-demand employability skills and provides a bridge to post-secondary education and career advancement opportunities. Brightpoint oversees the JAG program at 15 participating high schools across northeast Indiana, with 510 students enrolled.

“The purpose of this event is to give our JAG participants a platform to showcase the skills and knowledge they’ve gained in the classroom,” says Rachel Bryant, Youth Evolvement Program Manager. “It also provides a valuable opportunity to network with fellow JAG students from across the region, boosting their confidence through active participation. Additionally, competitors who achieve first place in their respective competitions will earn the chance to advance to the JAG Indiana State Competition in March 2025.”

The Brightpoint Career Development Competition (CDC) is being held on Friday, January 24 from 9am to 2pm at the Ivy Tech Community College, Marion campus. Keynote for the competition will be Ronald Morrell Jr., Mayor of Marion.
